Matter. The Materiality of Artistic Research in Theatre and Performance

Malmö Theatre Academy

Malmö Theatre Academy conducts research in performing arts that aims to propose new knowledge, forms, methods and techniques, through which performing arts would better meet the needs and hopes of our times. The Research Collegium gathers all research-related activities at Malmö Theatre Academy and carries responsibility of the planning, implementation and development. The milieu of the Collegium aims at providing a collegial meeting place for researchers, artists and pedagogues in scenic arts, with a special focus on inter- and transdisciplinary collaborations both in regional and international setting.

Profile and vision

The artistic research and development work driven by the doctoral students, teachers, postdoc and senior researchers at Malmö Theatre Academy have a common goal: we aim at conducting research in performing arts, and to propose new knowledge, forms, methods and techniques, through which performing arts would better meet the needs and hopes of our times. We want to create a dynamic academic milieu, where artistic creation, academic research and education feed each other in a critical dialogue, where new knowledge is born out of focused and patient collaborations, and where people committed to the research in performing arts can meet on an equal basis and feel welcome.
